Enjoying a taste of Spring

I have been a little blog lazy lately, so I have a bunch of stuff to post. Make sure you keep scrolling down to see what our crazy little family has been doing lately!

Saturday was such a great day. We knew that it was supposed to be warm, so we made plans to go on a family bike ride. Well, it started to get really windy and a little cloudy, so we just hung around the house for a while. Around 3:00, the wind let up a little, and I had the idea to try to fly a kite. We jumped in the car and headed up to Elk Ridge Park. I expected it to be full of people with the same idea, but there was only one other family at the playground. The boys played on the slides while Ben got the kite up. It was perfect kite flying weather! The kite seemed like it would never come down! Benjamin ran around with the string in his hands, and I took a turn flying it while sitting on a park bench. Every now and then the sun would peek through the clouds and it felt so nice and warm!!

After we flew the kite for about an hour, we jumped back into the car and decided to go get a treat. Ben introduced his boys to one of the best things about warm weather: Slurpees! All of us picked a flavor and enjoyed them on the way back to the house. Little boys REALLY like slurpees! When Ben asked B what his favorite part of the day was, he said it was the slurpee. We finished off the day by dusting off the BBQ for the first grill of the season.

Boy, I am so ready for summer to come! Especially since it is snowing outside as I write this :(

As the wind blew, there were some dried leaves that would get caught by the breeze and flutter just above the ground. Christopher thought this was fascinating, and played with the leaves more than the kite.

B is a pro kite-flyer! He only let go of the string once. I was busting up laughing as I watched Ben go running after the kite so it wouldn't fly away.

This month's Girl's Night Out was at my house. We decided that it would be fun to enjoy some good food and play Rock Band on the Wii. We had some delicious artichoke dip and queso dip, as well as chocolate fondue. One thing's for sure, when ladies get together, there will be good food! We all had a great time just talking, and embarassing ourselves (some more than others)! I don't know how I would get by without my girl's nights! They always help me reconnect with good friends and take a break from the duties of motherhood for at least a few hours :) Thanks ladies!

Willow Park Field Trip

This year we are trying to incorporate more field trips into our pre-school. On Thursday of last week, we took all of the kids to the Stokes Nature Center at Willow Park Zoo. They had a zoo worker come and talk to the kids about different types of animals. She had a macaw, hedgehog, snake and an iguana there for the kids to see and touch. Some of the kids were scared to touch the snake, but not Christopher! He was the first one up to pet it! (no, I will never let him have one as a pet) All the kids loved the hedgehog, who looked like a little spikey ball. It would only pop it's head out when the zookeeper put him in a pool of water. After our lesson, we let the kids walk through the zoo and play at the playground. It was a great fieldtrip!

A little Gem from......Christopher?

Usually I post about the funny and unusual things that B says to me. Christopher, however, has gained his own insight into life lately. Here is a conversation we had at dinner tonight:

Christopher is playing with his sippy cup full of Hot Chocolate, and making a big mess in the process.

Ben: "Buddy what are you doing? Do you have a drinking problem son?"

Christopher: "No, daddy. I hab a choc-wit probwem."

Mom starts laughing

Christopher: points to mom's drink "Mommy, you hab a water probwem."
points to dad's drink "Daddy, you hab a water probwem."
points to Benjamin's drink "B you hab a water probwem."

Benjamin : "Christopher, you have lots of problems."

We were all sitting at the counter on Saturday having lunch as a family. We were laughing and having fun, and the boys were getting a little rowdy. They started to burp and laugh, like most little boys do, and this is what B says to me:

B: "Hey Mom"

Me: "Yes, B"

B: "Did you know my favorite word is Poot?"

Me: trying not to laugh "No, B, I didn't know that, but I am not surprised."

Christopher: "Poot, poot, poot....."

So much for civilized converstion at my house. :)
